2004 - present: Strategy and Marketing Consultant
jhosea consulting
Established own business in 2004, working as an independent consultant.

Achievements include:
- Developed international marketing strategy for leading European business school
- Assessed proposed PhD programme for Norwegian government agency
- Sold farmed salmon branding report to Innovasjon Norge

2000 - 2002: Senior Consultant
Roland Berger Strategy Consultants
Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is the largest European strategy consultancy, ranked seventh globally after McKinsey by revenue. Joined as a Consultant in 2000 and promoted to Senior Consultant in 2002. Involved in a wide variety of projects, with international experience gained working for major clients in across Europe and the USA.

Duties included:
- Conducting analysis and developing strategies
- Responsibility for project modules
- Managing junior consultants and client teams
- Contributing to acquisition papers
- Presenting to and dealing directly with client senior management

Achievements include:
- Managed a multi-team Business Process Re-engineering project for €36bn revenue engineering group
- Restructuring project for €1bn revenue electrical fittings group
- Strategic review of business units for €11bn revenue Aerospace and Defence group
- Strategic development of an e-commerce channel for €210m revenue packaging company
- Pan-European Advertising efficiency analysis for a major Japanese automotive manufacturer

In addition, was also responsible for graduate recruitment in the London office.

 

1998 - 2000: Senior Account Executive
First National Bank plc (Abbey National Group)
Started as a Senior Account Executive and was acting Sales Manager late 1999 - 2000. Worked in business development and sales management roles.

Duties included:
- Achieving revenue and profit targets
- Negotiating packages and funding contracts with clients
- Selling and implementing performance improvement programmes to clients
- Managing performance of internal sales staff
- Supporting and developing junior members of field sales staff

Achievements include:
- Negotiated and closed a €3m contract with a national group
- Managed post-merger integration with a former competitor at local level
- Devised new analysis techniques and implemented at regional and national level
- Introduced and ran new performance management system for internal sales
- Rated excellent by clients in an independent market research survey

 

1995 - 1998: Account Executive
Lombard Motor Finance (Nat West Bank Group)
Began in new a business sales role as an Account Executive in 1995, promoted to a larger territory in 1996 and promoted to a business development role as Account Manager with Land Rover Finance joint venture in 1997.

Duties included:
- Achieving revenue and profit targets
- Negotiating packages and funding with mini-groups
- Training, development and performance management of client sales staff

Achievements included:
- Generated €18m revenue in 1997, achieving 111% of target
- Managed local exit strategy after end of joint venture with Land Rover
- Retained 65% of clients in competition with new in-house Land Rover finance company
- Undertook a two month secondment as a finance sales specialist with a motor retail group
- Completed an intensive product and sales training course

 

1991 - 1992: Quality Control Assistant
John Millar and Sons (1844) Ltd (Confectionery manufacturer)
Project work in Production department. Analysed production processes, developed recommendations for improvements and implementation plans. Also responsible for auditing ISO 9000 procedures.

 

1988 - 1995: Butcher's Assistant
William Low and Company Ltd
Saturday and holiday job in the local supermarket. Had responsibility for dealing with customers, arranging displays, cutting meat and cleaning machinery in the fresh meat department.
